Senegal's Sangomar offshore oil field, the country's first major offshore development, has continued to ramp up production, with the onshore support base at Dakar handling a steadily increasing volume of crew changes and equipment transfers to the floating production vessel offshore.
Local shipping agents in Dakar say the field's supply chain has created steady work for harbour tugs, crew boats and warehousing operators, alongside training programmes aimed at building a Senegalese offshore workforce.
Government officials have described the field as a milestone for the country's energy sector, while also emphasising that revenue management frameworks are intended to spread the benefit of production beyond the immediate Dakar area.
